Plus Size Sports Bra - Fact or Fiction? We've had them since the beginning of time, breasts- that is. But clothing manufacturers have only started making bras for sports in the past few decades- and if you were larger, like a D, DD or a 40C or 40D and up- you probably had to layer them. You know what I'm talking about. Remember the jokes about giving yourself a black eye? Not so funny, was it? In recent years companies have begun designing for not only larger cup sizes, but also larger chest circumferences. Enell is considered a pioneer in full figured sports bras. They were selected by Oprah as one of her favorite things, and from there have taken off. Their design includes a whole line of hook and eye closures and a bodice that goes a few inches lower than the usual bra. It also has quite a bit of structure in the cup area. This gives you a "lock-and-load" approach but when it comes to reducing bounce, they are considered the best. Other companies are building the usual sports bra (no hook and eye closures) but making it bigger and with more support. Some are building them in to a tank form. Danskin makes both a bra top and a tank bra and they go up to 4x (roughly a 50D). At Plus-Size-Athletic-Wear.com we sell the Enell and Danskin bras plus a no-name bra that is just like Danskin- only cotton based, and less expensive. Prices range from $21.99-$55.00 and we have bras in black, white, beige, red, navy and gray. There is still room for improvement, but companies are finally starting to wake up to the demand for large size sports bras!
